NAB announced new policy for checking housing scheme frauds
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazeer Ahmad Butt on Monday announced a new policy for housing schemes to check fraud.
Lt Gen Nazeer Ahmad Butt said 7 out of 10 people in housing schemes fell victim to fraud, and a new policy was being introduced to protect urban residents from housing scheme frauds.
Nazeer Ahmad Butt stated that NAB was returning the looted money to the victims, as it was using modern technology to facilitate the victims.
“Corruption is a big disease,” he insisted, adding that if there is fear in society or among businessmen, it means the NAB is not performing.
He further clarified that the NAB will not harass businessmen, and they should continue to play a role in the country’s development. “The NAB will support the business community,” he claimed.
The NAB chairman said that looted funds were being returned to the rightful owners, adding that it was the mission of the NAB. However, many were still waiting for justice, and significant efforts were required for it, he added.
On accountability of civil servants, NAB chairman emphasized that the chief secretary should conduct an investigation and furnish a response. He questioned, “If everyone is scared, how can the country and the economy function?”
