Pakistan is pressurised to recognise Israel, Fazlur Rehman
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the previous PTI government had the agenda of “withdrawing support from Kashmir, recognising Israel and disintegrating Pakistan”.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed on Saturday that Pakistan had been facing economic pressure from different segments to recognise Israel. Fazl alleged that PTI was “backed by Jews” to come to power for implementing foreign agenda.
“Our religious identity has been destroyed, there is only pressure on Pakistan regarding religious schools,” Fazlur Rehman added.
The JUI chief compared abuse in seminary schools (madrasa) to Israeli war crimes in Gaza by saying : “if the seminary teacher in Pakistan punished the student, they (west) would have made a video and said that there was a lot of abuse, but what is happening to thousands of people in Palestine, why is there silence?”.
Taking a jibe on human rights peak bodies on Israeli war crimes in Gaza, Fazl asked what is happening to thousands of people in Palestine, why is there silence? .
“The US bombed Afghanistan for 20 years and still claimed to be the defender of rights, adding that the US and other Western nations had destroyed Iraq, Libya and Syria,” Fazlur Rehman added.
Speaking to a corner meeting in Peshawar, Rehman said : “The environment is becoming suitable to hold the elections. Now it is up to the masses to pick up the rulers at will.”
On the merger of tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The JUI-F chief claimed locals were “hoodwinked in the name of the merger”. When he opposed Fata merger, the “powers that be” told him they were being pressured by international powers to do so.
