Malala Yousafzai announces scholarships for Palestinian students
Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has announced Oxford University scholarship program specifically for Palestinian students.
She made the announcement during a fundraising dinner at Oxford University.
“More than 80 percent of schools and universities in Gaza have been either damaged or completely destroyed,” she said highlighting the devastating impact of ongoing Israel-Palestine war.
She called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the rebuilding of its educational infrastructure.
“There is a need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the rebuilding of educational institutions,” Malala said. “We need to share the stories of Palestinian students and provide them with direct funding.”

The first recipient of this scholarship will begin their studies at Oxford University’s Lady Margaret Hall this October.
