If we talk about the hit films of the Indian film industry, it also includes “Munna Bhai MBBS” directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film stayed in theaters for 25 consecutive weeks.

When the film was released in Indian theaters on December 19, 2003, the public did not accept the film at all, and the theaters were deserted. The filmmakers were convinced that their investment would sink.

The film’s producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra recalled Rajkumar Hirani’s reaction in an interview given to the Indian media and said that Raju was upset to see empty theaters after the release of Munna Bhai MBBS, thinking that his capital is sunk.

Rajkumar Hirani, speaking at the Kellogg School of Management, revealed how one of the distributors in Tamil Nadu initially agreed to distribute the film, but then turned it down after seeing the film.

He had told that after watching the film, Mohammad Bhai (Tamil distributor) told us that he cannot take the film as no one will understand the story, so he asked to refund his money just three days before the release of the film.

It should be noted that this film of Sanjay Dutt is also the last film of his father Sunil Dutt, which is considered to be the most successful film in the history of Indian cinema.

Apart from Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Gracie Singh, Jimmy Shergal and Boman Irani also played lead roles in the film.
