British Council announces program for Pakistan artists
The British Council has unveiled the “Climate Futures: South Asia program” to support climate action in the creative industries across Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
The program offers grants of £15,000 to artists and cultural organisations, along with mentorship sessions led by UK specialists, to promote innovative projects addressing the climate crisis.
According to James Hampson, Country Director of British Council Pakistan, “the arts have a crucial role to play in addressing the climate crisis.” The Climate Futures program aims to empower artists and cultural organizations to lead the way in driving forward projects that inspire change .
Program objectives:
Knowledge Creation: Support artist-led initiatives promoting climate awareness and sustainable approaches
Capacity Building: Design and implement initiatives enhancing the cultural sector’s sustainability
Infrastructure Optimisation: Optimize infrastructure to enhance climate change awareness and sustainable approaches within the arts sector ¹
