Educational institutions may close for 3-day a week
Keeping in view the worsening smog situation, three-day weekly off – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – is being considered at educational institutions in Lahore.
Besides, change in working hours is also being seriously considered in the city.
According to the spokesperson of the Environmental Protection Agency, the decision will be taken after review in the smog meeting to be held in the first week of November.
According to IQ Air, the average air quality rating in Lahore has been recorded at 208.
Shimla Pahari 170, Town Hall 209, Punjab University 199, US Consulate 322, UMT 277 and Jail Road 246 were recorded.
In terms of air pollution, Lahore ranks second in the world and first in the country.
Earlier, the Lahore administration has imposed a ‘Green Lockdown’ in several parts of the metropolis to control rising smog levels.
Despite several measures, smog level continues to stay over 500, and in decisive move to combat escalating air pollution, Lahore officials announced lockdown in several regions.
The locations include Abbot Road (from Shimla Hill to Gulistan Cinema), Empress Road (from Shimla Hill to Railway Headquarters), Queen Mary Road (from Durand Road to Allama Iqbal Road), as well as Davis Road, Egerton Road, and Kashmir Road.
