Life in Punjab returns to normal as PTI calls off protest
After four days of closure, Life in Punjab is returning to normal after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) end protest in Islamabad on Tuesday evening.
PTI leadership announced that the protest in Islamabad, which began three days ago on November 24, has now been called off.
The announcement comes after the party’s protesters were dispersed from the Red Zone in Islamabad following a crackdown by law enforcers with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi taking to their heels, fleeing the protest site.
“In light of the government’s brutality and plans to turn the federal capital into a “slaughterhouse” for unarmed citizens, we are announcing the temporary suspension of our peaceful protest,” read the party statement.
After the protest called off, all motorways have been reopened for traffic, according to motorway authorities. The Islamabad to Lahore motorway (M-2) is now accessible, bringing relief to commuters.
Similarly, the Lahore-Sialkot motorway has also been restored for use, in addition to these, motorways M-3, M-4, and M-5 have been reopened, enabling smoother transportation across various parts of the country.
The Imran Khan-led party said that it would announce the future course of action in the light of guidance from party founder Imran Khan.
So far, the party has received the details of eight martyrs, said the PTI spokesperson.
The martyrs include Anis Shehzad Satti, Malik Mubeen Aurangzeb, Abdul Qadir, Malik Safdar Ali, Ahmed Wali, Muhammad Ilyas, and Abdul Rashid, per the PTI spokesperson.,” the statement added.
