Earthquake shakes areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale has jolted several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The tremors were felt in Malakand, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, and Shangla, as well as their surrounding areas.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad reported that the epicentre of the quake was the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region with a depth of 212km.
The tremors were also felt in Islamabad.
Residents reported feeling the tremors, causing panic and prompting people to rush out of their homes and workplaces.
Besides that, the quake was felt in Afghanistan and as far as Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
India’s National Center for Seismology reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.8 on Richter scale with a depth of 165km and the epicentre being Afghanistan.
