Pakistan government issues new directives for Afghan citizens
The Government of Pakistan on Thursday issued new directives for the Afghan citizens seeking residence in capital city Islamabad.
According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, they would be required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to reside in Islamabad after 2024.
The move is aimed at strengthening the country’s national security and sovereignty.
Under the new rule, it will enable authorities to better regulate the presence of foreign nationals and ensure compliance with national laws.
The decision was made to curb the terrorism incidents in Pakistan linked to Afghan nationals.
These included the tragic APS attack and other violent events where some Afghan individuals were reportedly involved.
The measure has aimed to establish stronger oversight and identification of individuals who may pose security risks, particularly in light of recent political protests where Afghan citizens were found to be participants.
