Trump picks daughter’s father-in-law Massad Boulos as Middle East adviser
US President-elect Donald Trump has named Lebanese-American businessman Massad Boulos as adviser on Arab and Middle East affairs.
Massad Boulos is the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter, Tiffany Trump, and has met with several Arab-American and Muslim leaders during Trump’s campaign.
Earlier, the US president-elect nominated his son-in-law Jared Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, as an ambassador to France.
Boulos has been instrumental in Trump’s campaign in recent months to win support from Lebanese and Arab-Americans, despite the fact that the United States supported Israeli military action against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
According to the foreign news agency, Massad Bulos has deep political ties in both Lebanon and the United States. His father and grandfather were prominent figures in Lebanese politics, and his father-in-law was a member of al-Tayar al-Wadi al-Harr, a Christian party allied to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Massad Boulus also has extensive connections with political circles in Lebanon. According to sources close to him, he is in contact with various political factions in Lebanon, which is unusual because of the long-standing differences between political parties in Lebanon.
Massad Boulos’ relationship with Hezbollah is also noteworthy.
