India stripped of hosting rights for 2025 Blind Women’s T20 World Cup

03 December, 2024 00:25

The World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) announced on Monday that India has been stripped of its hosting rights for the 2025 Blind Women’s T20 World Cup.

The decision comes amid the ongoing diplomatic tensions surrounding the Champions Trophy 2025 and India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan for the current Blind T20 World Cup.

The WBCC confirmed that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 will now be held at a neutral venue, following India’s decision not to participate in the ongoing Blind T20 World Cup 2024 in Pakistan.

The decision was finalized during the 26th General Council meeting of the WBCC in Multan, where Syed Sultan Shah was re-elected as the president for another term.

The dispute also extends to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has similarly refused to send India’s national team to Pakistan, proposing a hybrid model for the tournament with some matches held in Dubai.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected this suggestion, insisting that the entire tournament be held on Pakistani soil.

In response to the ongoing impasse, sources indicate that the PCB has proposed a “Partnership or Fusion Formula” to resolve the deadlock, suggesting that India and Pakistan play all their games at neutral venues for the next three years.
