K pop star Jae Park corrects Donald Trump on Gaza

05 December, 2024 13:17

K pop star Jae Park has raised voice in favour of people of Palestine, following US President-elect Donald Trump issued an apparent warning, threatening “all hell to pay” if hostages held in Gaza are not released.

Donald Trump, who is set to return to the White House in January for his second term, warned of consequences if they were not released.

He had posted an appearing waring on X/twitter stating: “all talk, and no action” about the hostages in apparent derision of Joe Biden and his administration’s inability to strike a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in more than a year of war.

Trump added: “Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity.”

The US President-elect further wrote: “Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied History of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!”

Following his tweet, Jae Park, American singer, songwriter, and former member of the South Korean rock band Day6, corrected Trump that ‘Gaza being held hostage’.

“I assume you’re talking about gaza being held hostage ‘so violently, inhumanely and against the will of the entire world’ by the IDF right?” he replied.

It is worth mentioning here that, the social media post of Donald Trump unveiled no details on what the threat would entail or if it could involve the deployment of the US military.

The post also did not mention which parties it was referring to but notably referenced only captives held by Hamas without mentioning Palestinian civilians who have borne the brunt of Israeli operations in Gaza.
