Winter vacation announced for schools, colleges in Balochistan

The Education Department of Balochistan has announced the schedule for winter holidays in schools and colleges across the province.

According to the notification issued by the department, the winter break will be divided into two categories depending on the region’s climate.

In colder regions, the winter holidays will be extended from December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025. Meanwhile, in the warmer areas, the break will be shorter, lasting from December 22 to December 31, 2024.

This announcement comes as temperatures in Balochistan continue to fall.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast dry and cold weather across most parts of the province over the next 24 hours, with further drops expected in mountainous areas, especially in the mornings and evenings.

The department has recorded temperatures as low as minus 5°C in Ziarat and Kalat, while Zhob recorded minus 3°C. Other areas, such as Sibi, experienced temperatures of 8°C, Turbat 11°C, Nokkundi -1°C, Chaman 1°C, Gwadar 13°C, and Jiwani 14°C.
