Govt clerk gifts girlfriend luxury flat, cars
A government sports complex clerk in Maharashtra has allegedly gifted his girlfriend a luxury apartment and cars.
According to India Media, he allegedly embezzled a staggering INR216 million (Rs688.8 million) and spent thi money to buy his girlfriend luxury gifts.
The accused, Harshal Kumar Kshirsagar, 23, worked as a contractual computer operator at the sports complex.
Harshal’s colleague Yashoda Shetty and her husband BK Jeevan were apprehended on charges of facilitating him in the fraud, police said.
The couple revealed that Harshal used an old letterhead of the sports complex to email the bank, requesting a change to the organisation’s official email address.
Only one alphabet in the email address was altered, which enabled Harshal to receive OTPs and other transaction details.
According to the police, from July 1 to December 7, he allegedly transferred INR216 million (PKR 688.8 million) to 13 bank accounts.
Police said, that he bought a BMW car worth INR12 million, an SUV car worth INR13 million, and gifted a luxurious flat to his girlfriend near the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport.
