ICC shifts tri-nation series to Karachi, Lahore
Ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the tri-nation ODI series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa will be held in Lahore and Karachi instead of Multan.
Both Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi have undergone significant upgrades to enhance the experience for players and fans.
Gaddafi Stadium has been renovated to increase its capacity to 35,000 spectators, with improved seating, fan facilities, and broadcast infrastructure, including 480 advanced LED lights and large digital replay screens. A new hospitality enclosure for players and officials is also under construction, with completion expected by January 25. The stadium is set for inauguration later this month.
National Bank Stadium in Karachi has received a facelift with 350 LED lights, added seating for 5,000 spectators, and an upgraded hospitality area. These improvements aim to provide a world-class experience for fans and athletes.
While Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is not hosting the tri-series, it is also being upgraded with 10,000 new seats and digital replay screens for future events.
With 250 workers engaged, the PCB is on track to complete these upgrades by the January 25 deadline, ensuring that the venues meet international standards for the Champions Trophy.
