Pakistan braces for winter rain

Pakistan is currently in grip of a severe cold wave, with rain and snowfall significantly lowering temperatures in northern regions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also issued a warning stating that rain and snowfall are likely in upper areas and northwestern Balochistan.
This is due to a new system of western winds making their way into the western regions today (Saturday).
Between now and January 20, cities such as Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Barkhan, Qalat, and Khuzdar are forecasted to receive substantial rainfall.
Certain areas of Balochistan may face risks of flooding due to the ongoing rain, it added.
Additional precipitation is also anticipated in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.
Murree, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are expected to experience heavy snowfall.
In Punjab, dense fog has enveloped several areas, resulting in the closure of the motorway from Samundri to Dera Khana and from Gojra to Multan due to poor visibility.
