Autopsy reveals Karachi boy Sarim was raped, strangled

A postmortem examination has confirmed that seven-year-old Mohammed Sarim, whose body was recovered from an underground water tank in a North Karachi residential apartment, was raped and strangled to death. The boy’s body was found 11 days after his disappearance .
According to Anti-Violence Crime Cell Senior Superintendent of Police Aneel Haider, the initial autopsy report suggests that Sarim was killed five days ago, and his body was dumped in the underground water tank of the same apartment where he lived.
The report also reveals that Sarim had a broken bone in his neck, indicating strangulation.
A relative of the victim has been taken into custody on suspicion, and a DNA test is being conducted on the suspect.
Police surgeon Dr. Samia confirmed that the medical report suggests Sarim was subjected to sexual assault before being strangled to death, with multiple wounds found on his body.
In response to the incident, Karachi Police chief Javed Alam Odho chaired a meeting to review progress in cases related to child kidnappings.
The police have been ordered to take strict measures to recover missing children and expedite investigations into such cases.
