Fire at Turkey ski resort hotel leaves 66 dead

A fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Turkey’s Bolu mountains resulted in 66 fatalities and left 51 injured on Tuesday.
The blaze erupted around 3:30 am (0030 GMT) on the restaurant floor of the 11-story hotel at the Kartalkaya ski resort in northwest Turkey.
Several guests were seen attempting to flee by jumping from windows or using bed sheets tied together to escape the flames.
The tragedy occurred as the country entered its two-week school holiday, typically a busy time for skiers from Istanbul and Ankara.
Fire engines were on the scene, and authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
