Trump claims Microsoft is in talks to acquire TikTok

US President Donald Trump has suggested that Microsoft is in talks with TikTok to acquire the app.
Trump said that he would like to see a bidding war over the app.
To a question if Microsoft was in talks to buy TikTok, Trump said: “I would say yes”. He added that a lot of interest in TikTok and there’s great interest in the app.
On the other hand, TikTok, Microsoft and ByteDance did not respond immediately to media for a comment outside regular business hours.
The said talks mark the second time that Microsoft has been in the race to buy TikTok.
Trump, during his first term, had ordered TikTok to separate its US version from ByteDance over national security concerns.
In 2020, Microsoft had emerged as a top bidder but the talks soon collapsed.
Earlier this month, TikTok that has about 170 million American users was briefly taken offline.
After taking office on 20 January, Donald trump had signed an executive order that sought a delay by 75 days the enforcement of the law.
