A new study led by researchers from the Moffat Cancer Center and the University of Michigan suggests that AI technology can help doctors make better decisions in treating cancer, but it is not reliable alone.

The study highlights some of the challenges of how doctors and AI technologies work together.

The study was published in Nature Communications. It focused on AI-assisted radiotherapy for two types of cancer: lung cancer and liver cancer.

Key findings found that AI helped make doctors’ decisions more consistent, reducing differences in different doctor-free treatment procedures.

However, technology does not always affect the final selection of doctors. In some cases doctors disagree with AI’s final recommendations and make decisions based on their experience and patient-specific factors.

To test the effects of AI, the researchers examined doctors, asking them to make treatment decisions for cancer patients. First without the help of AI then with the suggestions offered by AI
