Punjab police official to manage Pakistan team

03 February, 2025 13:07

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Punjab police official Hina Munawar as Pakistan team manager for the upcoming tri-nation series.

The tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa is set to commence from February 10 in Lahore.

However, the appointment of team manager is making headlines as Hina Munawar, who has extensive background in law enforcement and security operations, has been selected for the key job.

Moreover, her appointment also marks a historic moment for the sport, particularly in a traditionally male-dominated environment.

Apart from that, she has been tasked as the Operations Manager during the Champions Trophy.

Interestingly, Hina will be replaced by senior bureaucrat Naveed Akram Cheema as the team manager for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

Hina possesses a strong background in law enforcement and security agencies. She is a graduate of the Civil Superior Services (CSS) exam and has worked in various security and law enforcement roles.

She notably served in the Frontier Constabulary in Swat, a region long affected by security challenges, where she made history as the first female district officer.

Before joining the PCB, her credentials included serving in numerous roles within law enforcement agencies, equipping her with skills that align closely with the responsibilities of managing national sports teams.

She has already performed a similar role with the Pakistan Women’s U-19 squad, accompanying the team to the Asia Cup.
