Pakistan seeks BD cooperation in holding SAARC Summit in Islamabad. President Dr Arif Alvi also urged the High Commissioner-designate to make efforts to get Bangladesh cooperation.

Pakistan seeks BD cooperation

Unfortunately, India remains the only member that hamper the SAARC Summit in Pakistan.
On Thursday, Foreign Office also had stated that all member countries except India were willing for holding of 19th SAARC summit.
However, President Alvi expressed this desire while talking to High Commissioner-designate  Bangladesh Imran Ahmed Siddiquiat the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.
He emphasized the importance of high-level interaction with Bangladesh for strong bilateral ties.
President Alvi referred that Pakistan and Bangladesh were bound by fraternal relations and religious affinity, with a shared history, which provided a solid foundation for this relationship.
He specially laid emphasis on need for both countries to move ahead given their challenges and become source of strength for each other.

Pak BD cooperation

The President highlighted the need to improve existing institutional mechanisms to enhance trade.
He also asked the High-Commissioner to exert all-out efforts to highlight Pakistan’s tourism potential.
President Alvi said that the recently passed controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 had vociferously belied India’s claims of a secular state. Because the bill made it clear to the world that minorities in India, especially Muslims, faced insecurity and discrimination.
Moreover, he called upon Pakistan’s envoys to highlight the true perspective of Kashmir issue and serious human rights violations at the hands of Indian forces.
According to the schedule, the SAARC Summit should have been held in Pakistan. But, India has adopted an illogical stance against it.
Due to that reason, other members, including Pakistan remain worried over the regional cooperation. Hence, Pakistan government seeks cooperation from other members, specially Bangladesh (BD).
