23 dead as coaster plunges into gorge in Rawalakot

23 passengers were dead and one injured when a bus coming from Kahuta to Rawalpindi met with an accident on Sunday.

According to local sources, a bus coming from Haveli Kahuta to Rawalpindi fell into a ditch, killing all 23 passengers onboard.

They added that the accident happened near the Azad Pattan Pana Bridge in Rawalakot. However, the cause of the accident is still unknown.

The sources said due to the mountainous area, the police and rescue authorities are facing difficulties in reaching the accident site, while the local people are trying to take the bodies to the hospital with their own help.

Earlier, a bus carrying devotees from Iran met with an accident in Makran, martyring 12 people and injuring more than 30 today.

The accident happened to the devotees’ bus on the Makran Coastal Highway near Buzzi Top as it fell into a ditch due to brake failure.

According to rescue sources, 12 people were died and more than 30 were injured in the accident.

The police said that the bus coming from Iran was going to Punjab with pilgrims and the injured and dead were shifted to nearby hospitals.

Police officials further said that the pilgrims belong to Lahore and Gujranwala.

It should be remembered that a few days ago there was an accident in the bus of Pakistani pilgrims in Iran in which 35 people were martyred and 15 were injured.
