LHC admits contempt plea against PM for hearing

31 May, 2024 14:27

The Lahore High Court has admitted a contempt plea against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for hearing.

LHC’s Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan will hear the petition today.

Earlier a woman named Ashba Kamran, a resident of Sargodha, had filed the contempt of court petition against the prime minister in the Lahore High Court. In the plea, the federation has been made a party through the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.

The position was adopted, in the petition, that Shehbaz Sharif had used the word ‘Black Sheep’ for judges in the central convention of PML-N, which is inappropriate. The use of derogatory words related to judges is contempt of court, it added.

It should be noted that during the hearing of the NAB Amendment case yesterday, Justice Athar Minallah of the Supreme Court had asked to the Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan that he should convey to the prime minister there are no black sheep in the Supreme Court.
