Rising Star: From KPK Fairways to the World Stage — The Remarkable Journey of Saad Habib Malik
At just 19, Saad Habib Malik has emerged as one of Pakistan’s most promising young golfers. His rise from local courses to elite international tournaments has made him a symbol of hope for Pakistan’s future in global golf.
Born with quiet determination, Saad’s journey is defined by discipline, sacrifice, and consistent performance against strong competition.
Early Start in Swat
Saad first picked up a golf club in 2013 at the age of eight. He began playing at Kabbal Golf Club in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. What started as a simple activity soon turned into a lifelong passion.
While most children played popular team sports, Saad focused on golf. He learned patience early. Long practice sessions, calm focus, and technical discipline shaped his foundation.
Even during his A-Levels, Saad balanced education and sports. His daily routine now starts before sunrise. He begins with fitness training, followed by nearly six hours of golf practice, covering swing work, short game, mental conditioning, and strength training.
Dominating the Domestic Circuit
Between 2022 and 2026, Saad won 17 major domestic titles. His victories reflect not just talent, but mental strength under pressure.
One of his most notable wins came at the 64th National Amateur Championship 2025. He began the final round in 15th position. With a calm final-round score of 68, he staged a remarkable comeback to win Pakistan’s most prestigious amateur title.
At the 34th National Games in Karachi, held at the demanding DHA Golf & Country Club, Saad led his team to a gold medal. The performance highlighted his leadership and ability to handle pressure on difficult courses.
He also claimed multiple Pakistan Junior Championships and Independence Cup titles, proving consistency across seasons.
Stepping Onto the International Stage
Saad’s performances soon caught international attention. In 2025, he received a USGA exemption to compete in the 77th US Junior Amateur Championship at Trinity Golf Club in Dallas.
There, he competed alongside top global juniors, including Charlie Woods, the son of golf legend Tiger Woods. He also played a practice round with Cameron Kuchar, son of PGA Tour star Matt Kuchar, gaining valuable exposure to elite-level professionalism.
Sri Lanka Championship: A Defining Moment
One of Saad’s most impressive performances came at the Sri Lanka National Golf Championship 2025.
Training mainly on underdeveloped courses in Hyderabad, Saad took Sri Lanka’s top golfers to sudden death on their home ground. The performance stunned many observers and highlighted his ability to compete internationally despite limited resources.
It marked a turning point in how regional golf circles viewed Pakistan’s young talent.
Representing Pakistan Worldwide
Saad Habib Malik has represented Pakistan in several international events across:
Mauritius, Thailand, Vietnam, United Kingdom, Japan, United States, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and the UAE
He is currently ranked:
239th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)

Next Chapter: NCAA Division I Golf
In Fall 2026, Saad will begin a new phase of his career. He is set to join NCAA Division I golf at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
The move will give him access to world-class coaching, advanced facilities, and high-level competition. Experts believe this experience could play a key role in shaping his professional future.
