The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported that at least 24 people have lost their lives and 17 others have been injured in various rain-related incidents across the province over the past three days.

The PDMA warned that more rains are expected in the coming days.

Heavy downpours have been affecting the region since July 29, causing widespread destruction, including the collapse of houses, bridges, and roads.

According to the PDMA report, 73 houses have been completely destroyed, while 77 others have been partially damaged in Kohat, Peshawar, DI Khan, Hazara, and Malakand divisions.

A new spell of monsoon rains is expected to hit the province from August 1 to 6, bringing heavy showers, thunderstorms, and lightning to most districts.

The PDMA has cautioned commuters about potential landsliding in hilly areas, which may disrupt traffic flow.

The authority has advised people to stay away from power pylons, dilapidated structures, and billboards, and to report any natural calamity to their helpline 1700.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also predicted torrential monsoon rains across the country from August 1 to 6, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being one of the worst-hit regions.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Karachi staring from August 03 to 05.

The city already received decent monsoon rains in the ongoing system, with various areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.
