WhatsApp brings good news to video callers

16 June, 2024 17:55

Meta has made it easier for users to make video calls on the world’s popular messaging application WhatsApp by updating a new feature.

According to a report, WhatsApp has also introduced screen sharing and a new speaker spotlight feature along with audio support for the web version. The new Speaker Spotlight update has the ability to automatically highlight the user speaking on a video call, making them appear first on the screen. In addition, the platform has increased the number of participants on a video call to 32 people.

The report added WhatsApp’s owner Meta has also introduced the Meta Low Bit Rate (MLow) codec feature on the app, which aims to improve call quality on older devices. This feature is already available for Instagram and Messenger calls and is now being rolled out on WhatsApp as well. This new update will be rolling out to users in the next few weeks.

It should be noted that WhatsApp is also introducing a useful feature for users that will make it very easy to transfer chat history between devices.

Chat Backup is used to transfer data from one device to another in WhatsApp. For this, users have to back up data in cloud services like Google Drive or iCloud, but transferring data between iOS and Android is quite difficult.

Keeping this in mind, a feature called Transfer Chat History is being added to WhatsApp and it will use QR code to transfer chat data from one device to another.
