Senior Sri Lankan Buddhist Monks visit Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort in Lahore today (Tuesday).

They are visiting Pakistan as a part of a delegation comprising senior Buddhist Monks.

Chief Abbot and President, Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara, USA Venerated Dr. Walpola Piyananda seems to lead the delegation.

Meanwhile, he spoke on the occasion. He said that every religion has given a message of peace and harmony.

He further said that Pakistan has always helped Sri Lanka in the hour of need.

The veteran monk also referred to Pakistan’s assistance towards counter-terrorism measures.

Moreover, he hoped that the Pakistan government would take further steps to promote religious tourism.

Notably, the delegation has come to in Pakistan on a week-long religious pilgrimage to various Buddhist heritage sites.

The High Commission of Pakistan Colombo has arranged the visit.

It aims at promoting religious tourism in Pakistan.

Pakistan houses the ancient Buddhist civilization but that remained hidden from the eyes of the world over the years.
