18 March, 2024 15:12

Kabul has claimed that Paktika and Khost provinces along the Pakistan border were hit by airstrikes, killing eight people.

Afghan interim government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, in a statement, alleged that Pakistani aircraft had carried out the airstrikes on Afghan soil.

On the other hand, the Foreign Office and the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) have yet to comment on the development.

Mujahid said that at around 3am, Pakistani planes bombarded homes in Khost and Paktika provinces bordering Pakistan. As a result, eight people – women and children among them- were killed.

He further said that the jets had bombed the Laman area in Paktika’s Barmal district and the Afghan-Dubai area in Khost’s Spera district. Houses of common people were targeted in the attack as three women and as many children were killed in Paktika while two women were killed in Khost.

The strikes come a day after President Asif Ali Zardari had vowed retaliation after attending funeral prayers of two Army officers martyred in North Waziristan terrorist attack on a security forces.
