SJC issues another show-cause notice to Justice Mazahar Naqvi
The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), on Wednesday with a majority of 4 to 1, issued a detailed show cause notice to Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi in connection with misconduct complaints lodged against him.
Justice Naqvi to submit a reply within 14 days in connection with 10 complaints lodged against him.The SJC meeting on the third consecutive day was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
In all, 10 complainants were heard against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, while his reservations were also reviewed by the Supreme Judicial Council.
The show cause notice was backed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faiz Isa, Justice Sardar Tariq, Justice Amir Bhatti, and Justice Naeem Afghan whereas Justice Ijazul Ahsan dissented with the majority opinion.
During the lengthy Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) sessions, complaints were thoroughly examined, and after assessing the content of the complaints, the council decided to proceed with the complaints.
Justice Naqvi ealier in the apex court lodged a petition requesting the court to nullify the misconduct allegations against him, deeming them ‘without lawful authority and of no legal effect.’
