One dead, 6 injured in Karachi explosion

One person was dead and at least six others were injured in an explosion in a generator market located in New Chali neighbourhood, Karachi’s key commercial area.

Sources said that the blast took place in a shop near HBL Tower located in New Chali area. The explosion was heard from far distances. The building housing the shop collapsed after the blast and also caught fire. As a result, one person aws dead and six were injured. Condition of two of the injured is stated to be critical.

Rescue sources suspected that incident was caused by a cylinder blast.

Police and rescue services arrived at the site of blast and shifted the injured to hospital.
