Public holiday declared due to heatwave in govt offices, banks
Due to the ongoing heatwave, public institutions and banks have been closed today in Iran.
A severe heat wave has been going on in Iran for several days and the temperature has reached 45 degrees in many provinces. In the last 2 days, 225 people were admitted to hospitals due to the heat.
The weekly holiday in Iran is on Friday, but due to the ongoing heatwave in the country, a holiday has been declared today in government offices and banks.
According to Iranian media, emergency services will continue to work on Sunday. Working hours were cut in half on Saturday due to the heat and to save energy.
On the other hand, citizens have been instructed to stay indoors from morning to 5 pm to avoid the heatwave.
