Karsaz accident: Court sends suspect to jail on judicial remand
KARACHI: A local court in Karachi on Wednesday sent Natasha Iqbal, accused of killing two people in a road accident on Karsaz Road, to jail on judicial remand.
The judicial magistrate remanded the suspect, Natasha, in the judicial custody a day after an order to produce her before the court was issued along with a medical report.
An investigation officer (IO) had sought seven-day physical remand of the accused which was rejected by the court
The incident
Two people were killed when a speeding car rams into people on Karachi’s Karsaz road.
As per the police, the incident occurred when a high-speed white Prado, driven by a woman, lost control and rammed into a motorcycle, car, and several pedestrians.
Following the accident, the rescue sources rushed to the scene where they confirmed that two individuals had died on the spot, while four others sustained serious injuries, were taken to a nearby hospital for medical services.
Meanwhile, a case was lodged against the female driver involved in the accident.
Police and Rangers had taken the woman driver, identified in the first information report (FIR) as Natasha, into custody.
The security personnel had later taken her to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a medical check-up as she also received an injury to her head.
