Syrian President Bashar al-Assad died in Israeli air raid, claims Iraqi media
An Iranian source claimed on Sunday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad may have been dead in an Israeli airstrike, which targeted the plane he was flying from Damascus to another route.
The source told Baghdad Today, “The report we received from the Russian’s is that there were Israeli planes flying over Damascus and other areas while President Bashar al-Assad’s plane was taking off from Damascus International Airport.”
The Iranian source claimed that what we have confirmed so far is that Bashar al-Assad was killed after his plane was hit by the Zionist Air Force.
Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, in press statements from Doha: “We do not know about Bashar al-Assad’s condition, but he is most likely outside Syria.”
On the other hand, the Washington Post reported that it is likely that Assad’s plane crashed.
