Who is DJ Daniel? 13-year-old cancer survivor appointed as US Secret Service Agent

During a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, United States President Donald Trump paid tribute to DJ Daniel, a 13-year-old cancer warrior, by appointing him as an honorary Secret Service agent.

Seated in the House gallery alongside his father and dressed in a Houston police uniform, DJ Daniel was recognized for his unwavering grit, determination, and willpower in his battle against brain cancer. Trump highlighted the young boy’s lifelong dream of becoming a police officer and how, despite facing tremendous adversity, he never lost hope.

Doctors had initially given DJ Daniel only five months to live, but six years later, he continues to defy the odds. Trump praised him for his resilience and shared how he and his father have spent years working towards his dream of serving in law enforcement.

“Police departments love him. And tonight, DJ, we’ll do you the biggest honor of them all,” Trump announced. “I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”

Following the announcement, Secret Service Director Sean Curran presented DJ Daniel with his official Secret Service credential, solidifying his role as one of the youngest honorary agents in history.
