TTP umbrella for terrorist organisations and Kabul sponsoring attacks: Akram

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram has said that the banned TTP is becoming an umbrella organization for terrorist organizations, adding there is solid evidence that Kabul authorities are sponsoring attacks.

Addressing the UN Security Council meeting, the Pakistan’s permanent representative said that the Afghan interim government has failed to deal with the threats to the region.

Munir Akram said that TTP is the largest terrorist organization operating in Afghanistan. The TTP attacks Pakistan from border safe havens.

He further said that hundreds of lives have been lost as a result of the attacks of the outlawed militant outfit, while the BLA and Majeed Brigade are also trying to sabotage Pak-China economic cooperation and there is evidence that Kabul authorities are sponsoring these attacks.

He expressed deep surprise and disappointment over the lack of mention of terrorism in the UN Secretary General’s report.

Akram said that more than 20 terrorist organizations present in Afghanistan are a threat to the region and the world.

He said that a working group on counter-terrorism will be set up under the Doha process.

He also informed the Security Council about the arrest of ISIS terrorist Mohammad Sharifullah from the Pak-Afghan border.
