Three FC Personnel Martyred in Balochistan Blast Targeting
At least three Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred, and more than a dozen others were injured in a blast targeting a police truck in Mastung, Balochistan, on Tuesday. The attack took place in the Shamsabad area, leaving 16 FC members wounded.
An emergency was declared at both the Bolan Medical Complex and Civil Hospital, with the injured being transported to Quetta, two of them in critical condition.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the police truck, carrying security personnel from Kalat via RTC, was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED).
“The Balochistan government will stand by the martyrs,” the official said.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed Health Minister Bakht Kakar to oversee the situation and ensure proper medical care for the injured, emphasizing that no negligence in their treatment would be tolerated. The Balochistan government vowed to support the families of the martyrs.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, which, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, continues to face escalating terror attacks. Despite a promising security trend in early 2025, the region remains a hotspot for violence, with projections suggesting over 3,600 fatalities by the end of the year if current trends persist.
The Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) report indicated a 13% decline in violence-related fatalities compared to the previous quarter, although Balochistan saw a 15% increase in violence during the same period.
