Brett Dryden Found Dead in Spain with Head Wound: Mother Believes He Was Murdered
Sandra Adams, the mother of 35-year-old Brett Dryden, is demanding answers after her son was found dead in Mojácar, Spain, last July with a four-inch head wound. Despite a Spanish autopsy ruling his death as a pulmonary embolism, Sandra believes Brett was murdered—and possibly the victim of a cover-up.
Travelling from Chester-le-Street with her husband Robert, Brett’s stepfather, Sandra described her recent trip to Mojácar as “soul destroying.” On what would have been Brett’s 36th birthday, she led a memorial walk with 20 others, laying flowers and wearing shirts calling for justice.
Brett Dryden had lived in Mojácar for five years and ran a legal cannabis club called The Dawg House. On July 22, 2024, friends found him dead after he failed to return from a siesta. Initially, police told them “there’s been a violent murder” and that he’d been hit with an axe. His phone, money, and designer glasses were missing. Later, Sandra received a silent call from his number and tracked the phone moving around Spain.
“I just want to know what happened to my boy,” Sandra told The Northern Echo. “All I know is somebody hurt my boy and if it’s the last thing I do, I will get justice.”
CCTV footage reportedly showed three men fleeing Brett’s home the night he died, while a neighbour told the family: “It’s disgusting. They’re clearly trying to cover something up.”
Sandra had planned a protest outside Mojácar’s town hall but was informed she needed a permit 40 days in advance. Despite the lack of cooperation, she plans to return in July to protest.
A court spokesperson confirmed: “The investigation is still open.”
