Moscow, April 28 – On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a three-day ceasefire in the war with Ukraine. The ceasefire will take place next month to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in World War Two.
The Kremlin shared more details about the plan. The 72-hour ceasefire will start on May 8 and end on May 10. Russia has also asked Ukraine to join the ceasefire during this time.
However, Russia gave a warning too. The Kremlin said that if Ukraine violates the ceasefire, Russia’s armed forces will respond quickly and effectively.
This move comes as Russia prepares to celebrate a major historical event. It remains to be seen how Ukraine will respond to the offer.
