Canadian PM Carney attacks Trump in victory speech

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney directly targeted President Donald Trump during his victory speech after the Liberal Party secured a win in Canada’s federal election.
“For months, I have been warning that America covets our land, our resources, our water, our nation. These are not empty threats,” Carney said.
“President Trump is trying to weaken us so the United States can take control. That will never happen. However, we must also face the reality that our world has changed dramatically.”
The Liberal Party’s victory marks a remarkable turnaround, largely driven by Trump’s threats of annexation and his trade war against Canada.
Initially, the Liberals seemed destined for a major defeat, but Trump’s attacks on Canada’s economy and sovereignty — including his suggestion that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state — sparked widespread outrage.
This wave of anger and heightened nationalism among Canadians helped the Liberals reverse their fortunes and secure a fourth consecutive term.
Addressing his supporters in Ottawa, Carney stressed the urgent need for national unity in the face of rising pressures from Washington.
