SIFC’s 14th Executive Committee Meeting Reviews Pakistan’s Economic Progress

The 14th meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) Executive Committee was held to review key developments in Pakistan’s economic landscape.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal. It was attended by relevant federal ministers, the National Coordinator of SIFC, federal and provincial secretaries, and senior government officials.

Focus on Economic Stability and Investment Opportunities

During the session, various ministries presented detailed progress reports on ongoing projects and policy initiatives aimed at ensuring economic stability. The participants discussed comprehensive plans to expedite critical matters and improve inter-departmental coordination.

Consensus was reached on introducing new investment opportunities by aligning policies and removing bottlenecks across sectors.

Key Sectors Reviewed

Special attention was given to the petroleum sector, including plans to upgrade brownfield refineries.
Strategic developments in the railway sector and expansion of new motorways were also reviewed to enhance national connectivity.

The meeting explored progress in:

• Tourism revival strategies

• Livestock sector development

• Diversification in the auto industry

• Establishing Special Tech Zones to boost performance in the IT sector

Public-Private Partnerships and Faster Decision-Making

Participants emphasized the need to accelerate economic activities through public-private partnerships. Ministries were instructed to resolve pending inter-sectoral issues swiftly through coordinated policy actions and timely consultations.

The session reflected a clear commitment to accelerating Pakistan’s economic development through strategic planning, sectoral reforms, and enhanced investment facilitation.
