BISP introduces mobile wallet system for stipend transfers
BISP announces new rules for smooth payment from September 25
The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched a new digital payment method to make life easier for millions of women in Pakistan. Instead of waiting in long lines for cash payments, women will now receive their stipends through mobile wallets like JazzCash, EasyPaisa, and HBL Konnect.
This new system was launched in Islamabad with help from the European Union and the German government. It aims to give women more freedom, safety, and control over their money.
What Is a Mobile Wallet?
A mobile wallet is like a small digital bank account on your phone. With it, women can:
-
Receive money directly from BISP
-
Withdraw cash at any agent or ATM
-
Pay utility bills or buy phone credit
-
Check their balance and past transactions
Why Was This Change Needed?
In the past, many women had to:
-
Travel long distances to payment centers
-
Stand in the sun for hours
-
Pay illegal fees to agents
-
Lose money due to fraud
Now, payments go straight to their phones—no middlemen, no deductions, and no stress.
How to Use the Mobile Wallet
-
You must be a registered BISP beneficiary
-
Your SIM must be in your name (linked to your CNIC)
-
You’ll be given a wallet based on your mobile network
-
Jazz/Mobilink → JazzCash
-
Telenor → EasyPaisa
-
Some areas → HBL Konnect
-
-
Activate your wallet by verifying your CNIC and setting a PIN
-
Receive payments and use or withdraw them as needed
More Than Just Money
This program does more than send money—it gives women privacy, confidence, and freedom. They no longer need to rely on others to access their support. Plus, it opens the door to more financial services in the future.
Where It Has Started
The new system is being tested in major cities like:
-
Islamabad
-
Lahore
-
Karachi
-
Peshawar
-
Quetta
-
Muzaffarabad
-
Gilgit
So far, it’s being used for Kafaalat payments, but other programs like Taleemi Wazaif may join soon.
What’s Next?
BISP plans to expand the digital wallet system across the country—so millions of women, even in remote areas, can manage their money easily, safely, and with dignity.
