On her 45th birthday, Elizaveta “Liza” Gushchina, a mother of two and extreme sports lover, tragically fell 290ft to her death in Pavlovsk, near St. Petersburg, Russia. The incident happened just minutes after she had successfully completed a daring rope jump from an abandoned boiler tower, which is now used for adrenaline activities.
Birthday Celebration Turned Tragic
Liza had shared a video of her jump, showing her laughing and shouting “Let’s go!” before leaping. She swung safely on the rope and landed without injury. Witnesses say she was full of joy after the experience.
But moments later, she decided to climb back up the tower to take a selfie as a memory of her birthday. Without safety ropes, she slipped and fell in front of her son Nikita, 23, who was with her at the time.
Passion for Extreme Sports
Elizaveta was known among friends and teammates as someone who loved adrenaline and adventure. She was part of a sports group that often took part in rope jumping and other extreme activities. The company 23block, which manages the site, described her as an “experienced jumper and mother of two” and said the team is deeply mourning her loss.
