Mari Energies announces major oil and gas discovery in Sindh
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a major oil and gas discovery at its Dhok Sultan-03 well in District Attock, Punjab.
This marks the second major find in the Dhok Sultan Block and is recognized as the second deepest oil discovery in the Potwar region. The project was carried out in partnership with Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL).
According to PPL, the well was drilled to a depth of 5,815 meters and tested successfully, producing over 2,000 barrels of oil per day along with significant natural gas output. The company highlighted that advanced technology and optimized well design helped save both time and costs during drilling.
PPL Managing Director and CEO Imran Abbasy called the discovery a “testament to PPL’s expertise and commitment to energy security,” adding that it will reduce reliance on imported fuel and save valuable foreign exchange for Pakistan.
The new reserves are expected to strengthen Pakistan’s energy mix and contribute to long-term national energy needs.
