‘Ya Ali’ Song Singer Zubeen Garg Dies at 52 After Drowning in Sea

Zubeen Garg, the renowned singer behind the hit song Ya Ali, has passed away at the age of 52 following a scuba diving accident in Singapore. Reports confirm that the cause of death was drowning after he lost consciousness during the dive. Garg was in Singapore to participate in the North East Festival scheduled for September 19.

According to officials, the incident occurred when Garg fell into the sea during the scuba dive. He was rescued by Singapore police and rushed to a hospital. Despite receiving intensive care, he could not be saved. His untimely death has sparked mourning across Assam, India, and among fans worldwide.

Born on November 18, 1972, in Jorhat, Assam, Zubeen Garg rose to fame with his first album Anamika, released in 1992. Over his career, he recorded more than 38,000 songs in around 40 languages, including Assamese, Hindi, and Bengali.

Garg’s Bollywood breakthrough came with the soundtrack Ya Ali from the 2006 film Gangster, which earned him the Global Indian Film Award for Best Playback Singer and cemented his place in the Indian music industry. The song Zubeen Garg Ya Ali remains one of the most searched and celebrated tracks associated with him.
