NADRA introduces birth, death registration via Pak ID mobile app in Punjab

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has started a new digital service that allows citizens to register births and deaths directly through the Pak-ID mobile app.

This facility was first tested during the flood crisis and is currently available only in Jhelum, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib districts of Punjab. Officials say it will soon be expanded to other provinces.

The latest app update (version 5.0.2) brings several new features:

• Digital birth and death registration in all Union Councils of Punjab

• Family details, including CNIC status and expiry dates

• Improved biometric verification

• Real-time tracking of applications

• A clearer and easier app interface

NADRA has advised citizens to download or update the app to access these new services.

NADRA, which works under the Ministry of Interior, is responsible for issuing CNICs, child certificates, and other official documents. It manages a secure database of citizens’ biometric and demographic details and also supports voter registration and other public services.

Over the years, NADRA has been introducing digital tools to make its services faster, safer, and more accessible for people across Pakistan.
