Fisherman Suffers Serious Head Injuries After River Foss Assault in York

A fisherman in his 30s is in hospital with serious head injuries after being assaulted on the banks of the River Foss in York.

Assault Near Castle Mills Marina

According to North Yorkshire Police, the incident happened between 11:30 pm and 12:30 am on Friday near the Peasholme Centre and Castle Mills Marina.

The man had been fishing earlier in the evening with two others. Detectives believe these two men may have vital information and are urging them to come forward.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Police are also asking anyone who was in the area during that time to contact them.

People with CCTV, doorbell cameras, or dashcam footage that may have recorded the incident are being urged to share it with investigators.

Ongoing Investigation

The fisherman remains in hospital with serious injuries. Detectives continue to investigate and have increased patrols in the area to reassure the public.
