Speaking before entering the house, Zelah explained why he decided to join the ITV reality show: “I’m in this weird in-between where I’ve recently left the corporate world into having a looser schedule while I get qualified and build my business, so it felt like a ‘why not’ situation.”

He also admitted that he doesn’t always have a high social battery and is curious to see how long he can last in such an intense environment.

“Being trans, I think that a lot of the media narrative at the moment is taken out of our hands. It will be nice to re-centre that and retake control. Shows like Big Brother show the normality of people – you can’t get more personal than watching someone 24/7.”

He added that while many people see him as very masculine due to his role as a personal trainer and his love for the gym, he also embraces a softer, more feminine side in the way he connects with others.
