Sidharth and Janhvi’s Param Sundari – Success or Failure at Box Office?

Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic drama Param Sundari has officially been deemed a flop at the domestic box office, despite showing early promise. The film earned approximately ₹40 crore in its first week across India, significantly below its reported production budget of ₹60 crore.

While the movie opened to a solid weekend, its box office numbers declined sharply during weekdays, preventing it from recovering its costs in the domestic market. “In this context, the film can be termed a flop at the box office.”

Internationally, Param Sundari performed slightly better, grossing around ₹89.10 crore worldwide by the end of September 2025. However, even that figure has not been enough to redeem the film’s underperformance at home.

Despite its commercial failure, critics and audiences highlighted “Janhvi Kapoor’s performance and chemistry with Sidharth” as standout elements of the film. The music was also praised for its vibrant and energetic tone.

One key factor behind the film’s disappointing performance was intense competition from other major releases at the time, which diluted its market share. Additionally, the movie drew criticism for “its stereotypical portrayal of the Malayalam culture and people,” which reportedly alienated viewers, especially in Kerala.

Although it failed to make a commercial impact, Param Sundari left a mark with its visuals, music, and lead performances, even as it struggled to connect with audiences nationwide.
