Who Was Karen Drew’s Ex-Husband? Local 4’s Anchor Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Paul Goryeva

02 October, 2025 15:14

Karen Drew, investigative journalist and anchor for Local 4 News, is mourning the death of her ex-husband, Paul Goryeva. The couple, who were married in 2008, separated in 2023 after 15 years of marriage, according to Distractify.

Goryeva passed away on September 15, as stated in his obituary. On October 1, Drew shared an emotional message on her social media, reflecting on her ex-husband’s life and their shared family. She mentioned their daughters, Madison and Morgan, and expressed her grief:

“We are in a fog… last week we buried my children’s father. Paul loved his girls with all his heart and soul. He helped others, guided coworkers, built friendships that turned into family, and gave me the best gifts of my life … my daughters. His famous phrase ‘Do what is right.'”

Alongside a photograph of herself mourning with her daughters, Drew announced she would be taking some time off work to cope with the loss:

“As we figure out this next chapter we will be scattered, I will be missing a few newscasts, and we will hold on tight to each other.”

About Paul Goryeva

Unlike Drew, who was widely recognized for her journalism career, Goryeva worked in the automotive industry. His obituary on the Desmond Funeral Home website details his professional journey, which began after he graduated from Michigan State University’s business school, specializing in Materials and Logistics Management. He was first hired by Honda of America in its purchasing department.

Over his career, Goryeva held various operational and leadership roles across sales, marketing, and business development. He worked with notable companies including Ford Motor Company, Plastech, Honda, and Piston Group.

Goryeva’s obituary highlighted his dedication to family, with his daughters Madison and Morgan being the most important part of his life. He enjoyed spending time with them and watching them excel in sports, proudly embracing his role as a “girl dad.”

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Goryeva played basketball in school and maintained interests in baseball, football, hockey, and golf throughout his life. His passion for sports helped him forge many friendships and reflected his amiable personality.

At the time of his passing, Goryeva was 62 years old, according to Distractify.
